Fred Brewer Jr

Fred Brewer, Jr. 92, of Ashland, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky on April 18, 1922 to the late Fred Brewer, Sr. and Nellie Horne Chandler Brewer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Fred was a foreman at the City of Ashland and Cannonsburg Water Districts. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the American Legion Post #76 and attended the Ashland Assembly of God.
He is survived by his loving wife Effie Jane Porter Brewer of Ashland; sons Todd Brewer (Debra Mae) of Ashland, Ky., and Daniel Brewer (Tina) of Ohio; daughters Deborah Hale (Don) of South Carolina, Paulette Turner (Robert) of Ohio and Gayle Spradlin (Larry) of Ashland, Ky.; a brother Charles Brewer (Sonja) of Catlettsburg, Ky.; eight grandchildren Darla (Nick Pickett), Amber (Daren Whitt), Dustin, Kyle, Amy, Dalton, Danielle and Joy (Jeff James), whom was raised as a daughter; He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel with Pastor Charles Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park with military rites provided by Kenova American Legion Post #93. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 on Monday.
