Frank Fugeman

March 13, 1932 — June 23, 2010

Frank Hugh Fugeman, 78, of South Shore, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., passed away June 23 in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was the son of the late Frank Hendershot Fugeman and Edna Marlarkey Fugeman. He was preceded in death by Shirley Allen Fugeman.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Blevins Fugeman, and only child, Joanna Lynn (Tom) Conley. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Amanda Kathryn James and Hillary Caitlin McNeely, both of Ashland. Frank was also able to see the birth of a great-grandson, Ayden Lee Smith.
Frank is also survived by his only brother, Andrew Michael (Mary) Fugeman of Ashland; three sisters, Wilma Sue (Bernie) Beverly of Ashland, Barbara Jean Geisler of Louisville, Ky., and Paula Jean Moore of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Ann Hall, Emily Joyce Rearrick, Mary Jane Fugeman and Inez Agnes Brooks; and a nephew, William Geisler.
Frank is also survived by seven nephews and three nieces.
Frank was a graduate of Holy Family High School and went on to join the U.S. Navy. He proudly served aboard the USS Yorktown during the Korean War as a First Gunners Mate. He went on to join Armco Steel Corp. from where he retired. He was a rigger and pipe fitter during his career there.
His nickname, known by many friends and family was Huck, short for Huckleberry Finn, aptly named for the adventurous character he exhibited during his childhood years spent in Ashland. He was an accomplished carpenter, electrician, plumber and jack-of-all trades.
He was a devoted family man who was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.
The service will be at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore today, June 25.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with the funeral commencing at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
