Fannie Mae Ison Stewart, 94, of Ashland, died April 10, 2019, following an extended illness. She was
born February 26, 1925, in Catlettsburg, to Charles and Lora Ison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Stewart; her brothers, William,
Curtis and Allan; and two grandsons, Robbie Lewis Byrd and Shannon Michael Newman.
She is survived by her three children, Beverly (and Bill) Vice of St. Augustine, Fla.; Chere (and Gene)
Hallahan of Ashland; and James (and Jodi) Stewart II of Winchester, Va. Grandchildren, James (and
Tianne) Newman of Ashland; Angela (and Jarrod) Geary of Ashland; Alex Stewart of Sterling, Va.; and
Audrey Stewart of Winchester, Va. Greatgrandchildren Jacob, Taylor, Charlize, Alina, Journey and
Adalynn. Great great-grandchild Linden.
She was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School in Catlettsburg. She retired from Sears in
1986. And she enjoyed being team mom to the Ashland area baseball teams that her husband
coached. She was reared in the Nazarene tradition. And she dearly loved her church and her God
and family and without personal regard gave to those in need. She always had a kind word to those
who stopped by while she sat on her porch. She was an avid stamp collector. The flowers that adorn
the corner of Nolte Street and South 29th Street were planted by her and enjoyed by all.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev.
Gene Hallahan officiating. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Neal-Kilgore Collier Funeral
Home in Catlettsburg.
