Vivian F. Rice, 93, formerly of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013.
She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Louisa, the daughter of the late Newell F. and Bertha Childers Ferguson.
She was the widow of Alvin "Boo" Rice, former sheriff of Boyd County and county court clerk. Vivian was employed at the county clerk's office for more than 30 years.
Vivian moved to Tallahassee, Fla., in 2002 and lived on her own until about two years ago, when she moved in with her niece, Jan Soto. About a year ago she moved into assisted living.
She was also predeceased by brothers Chester A. Ferguson and Lawrence R. Ferguson.
Surviving are nephews Larry (Nancy) Ferguson of Columbia, S.C., and Roy "Pud" (Ruth) Rice of Cadiz; nieces Jan Soto of Tallahassee, Fla., Della Muse of Albemarle, N.C., and Lyn Rhoden of Charlotte, N.C.; and several other nephews, nieces and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of choice.
