Edsel B. "Eddie" Fitzpatrick Sr. (1931-2009)
Edsel B. "Eddie" Fitzpatrick Sr. of Ashland, devoted and loving father, departed for his eternal home on Wednesday, 4 March 2009.
Born 19 March 1931, he was a retired foreman at Hinton Hatchery, where he worked 37 years, sang as tenor for the Hymnsmen Gospel Quartet since 1958 and attended Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church.
Eddie is survived by two sisters, Alma Edna (Rudy) Flores of Mansfield, Ohio, and Elsie Sherman (Bob) Sparks of Clearwater, Fla.; five children, Edsel Jr. (Anita) Fitzpatrick of Ashland, Donna (Larry) Hamblin of Ashland, Kenny (Louene) Fitzpatrick of Cherryfield, Maine, Frank (Linda) Fitzpatrick of Ashland and Brian (Kim) Fitzpatrick of Ashland; 12 grandchildren, Corbin (Brynn) Fitzpatrick, Aaron (Vicky) Fitzpatrick, Bonnie Roberts, Chris Fitzpatrick, Heather Fitzpatrick, Cory Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Fitzpatrick, Tyler Fitzpatrick, Caleb Fitzpatrick, Terry Hamblin, Charity Hamblin and Jenifer Hamblin; eight great-grandchildren, Cavin Fitzpatrick, Kata Crizer, Harlea Fitzpatrick, Thad Fitzpatrick, Kayden Fitzpatrick, Blake Hamblin, Jake Hamblin and Brandi Hamblin and another great-grandchild due in September; a great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Hamblin; and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jayetta Eldridge Fitzpatrick, in 1993.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Brother Michael Locklear officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
