Edna Ison Edwards, 98, of Ashland, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Edna was born May 18, 1912, in Harrodsburg, Ky. Her parents were Joshua Smalley Ison and Dora Worley Ison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Prentice Edwards, in 1975; and her brother, Lee Taylor Ison.
Edna was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashland, an active member of Methodist Women, a 50-year member of the Friends of the Children and a member of the DAR.
Surviving are her son, James Prentice Edwards Jr. and his wife, Libby, of Sarasota, Fla.; a grandson, Robert Lee Edwards and wife Angela of Georgetown, Ky.; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Anne Edwards. Other survivors include nephews Dr. Lee Andrew Ison and wife Jean of Mid West City, Okla., Thomas Edwards and wife Susan of Memphis, Tenn., and Goebel R. Adams and wife Donna of Hopkinsville, Ky.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.?Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel officiated by the Rev. Don Young. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
