Donald Miller - 1927-2008
Donald R. "Red" Miller, 80, of Rush, widower of Margaret Ann Kirk Miller, passed away Friday evening, March 7, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center.
Donald was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Lawrence County, Ky., a son of the late C.B. and Georgie Queen Miller.
Donald proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired electrician in the processing department of Armco Steel. Don was quite a craftsman. In his spare time he loved to antique, do woodworking, fish, tell stories and spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Kirk Miller, and a sister, Alberta Maddox.
He is survived by his four children, Donald Miller and his wife, Teresa, of Rush, Debbie Barber and her husband, Bill, of Rush, Brenda Mae Ison and her husband, Jim, of Winchester and David Ison and his wife, Judy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Basil Dale Miller of Ashland; two sisters, Roma Lockwood of Ashland and Bernice Holbrook of Denton; seven grandchildren, Donald E. Miller, Jennifer Johnson, Jamie Morrison, Linda Tolson, Vanessa Fathergill, D.J. Ison and Chrissy Musk; nine great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends; and all who knew him by Mr. Daddy Don.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. Military services will be by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
