Delores Marie "Tommie" Baker - 1928-2008
Delores Marie "Tommie" Baker, 80, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2008, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Born July 26, 1928, in Carter County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Stella (Jackson) and William James Gamble.
Married to William J. Baker for 61 years, she was employed at the Cinderella Dress Factory and later as an LPN at King's Daughters Hospital. She was a member of the Summit Homemakers Club and attended Worthington Nazarene Church, where she was active in the Crusaders Sunday School Class and Women's Ministry.
Her hobbies were doing crafts and working in her flower garden. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life. Children are three daughters, JoAnn (Charles) Copley of Catlettsburg, Ky., Jan (Michael) Conn of Catlettsburg and Judy (Jimmie) Preston of Ashland, Ky.; and a son, Keith (Nancy) Baker of Lexington, Ky. Grandchildren are Ryan (Heather) Copley of Amelia, Ohio, Heather (Mark) Rose of Ashland, Joshua (Beth) Preston of Ashland, Julie (Shawn) Thornbury of Ashland, Logan Baker of Lexington, Stephanie (Bob) Davis of Dayton, Ohio, and Lacey Conn of Lexington.
Great-grandchildren are Caleb Rose of Ashland, Will and Tucker Copley of Amelia, Lilah Thornbury of Ashland and Reese Davis of Dayton, Ohio. Also surviving is a brother, Donald Edward Gamble of Frenchburg, Ky. A sister, Ermalie Archey of Russell, Ky., preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Paul Neal and the Rev. James Webster.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Worthington Nazarene Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 375, Worthington, KY 41183.
The family will receive friends and visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at the funeral home.
The family appreciates all the love, support and prayers shown during her long illness and death.
