David S. Davidson, 70, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
David was born Oct. 21, 1942, in Ashland, a son of the late Garnett Samuel and Rena Collins Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter.
David retired from AK Steel with 34 years of service as a crew chief in the Rigger Shop. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army and also served with the Kentucky National Guard. David was an avid UK fan and was the "go to" person to his friends for any facts or stats about UK sports.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy McGranahan Davidson of Ashland; brother, Jimmy Davidson and wife Susan of Springfield, Va.; sisters, Linda Faircloth and husband Tracy of Sanford, Fla., Sue Honsted and husband Bob of Morriston, Fla.; and a host of family and friends.
A service of remembrance for David will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Chaplain Marilyn McCann. Entombment will follow the service.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Mausoleum Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
