Darrell Barker - 1929-2008
Darrell E. Barker, 79, of Wurtland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Barker was born July 31, 1929, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late David N. and May Edwards Barker.
He was a carman foreman with the C&O Railroad, a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America and was a United States Army veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Hager of Greenup, Ky., and Stephanie Estep of Ashland; three sons, Kenneth Barker of Ashland, Mark Barker of Flatwoods, Ky., and Matthew Barker of Wurtland; one sister, Sarah M. Barker of Ashland; five grandchildren, Phillip Hager, Brandon Estep, Samantha Barker, Wesley Estep and Carrie Atkinson; three great-grandchildren; and special friend, Peggy Sue Watkins of Portsmouth, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at the Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by the Rev. Marvin Boggs. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
