Claude Ray "Claudie" Whitt, 84, of Ashland, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at his residence while under hospice care and following an extended illness.
Claude was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Ashland, a son of the late Claud and Synthia Dennis Whitt.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Tipton Whitt, and two infant daughters, Vicky Lynn and Cindy Sue Whitt.
He was owner and operator of the former Claudie's Auto Parts in Ashland and of the Baptist faith. Claude enjoyed playing bingo at Big Blue and the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund.
Surviving are three sons, Harold Ray Whitt and wife Janet of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, David Whitt of Ashland and Nick Whitt and wife Michelle of Ashland; two daughters, Pearl Dowdy of Ashland and Marie Adams and husband Robert of Ashland; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Marion Whitt and wife Jean of Ashland; and a sister, Barbara May and husband Steve of Michigan.
The funeral will be at noon Friday, March 6, 2015, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland at a later date.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
