ASHLAND - Charlotte Douglas Ison, 75, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord and join her loving husband of 57 years, Delmar Ison, on May 10, 2011, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
She was born July 31, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Gertrude Keeton Douglas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Douglas, and six sisters, Clara Brown, Helen Williams, Elsie Brown, Bertha Pennington, Marie Williams and Nora Clark.
She was employed by the Russell Independent School District for more than 50 years and treasured her co-workers and the students she came to know. Charlotte was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods.
She is survived by her son, Rick Ison, and wife Sharon of Rush; a daughter, Madonna Ratliff, and husband Robert of Ashland; precious grandchildren Madison Ratliff, Michael Ison and wife Amanda and Christy Goldsworthy Proctor and husband Aaron; and great-grandchildren Kayla Goldsworthy and Dylan Ison. She is also survived by her brother, Howard "Bud" Douglas of Flatwoods.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Brother Dave. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland .
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rick Ison, Michael Ison, Rob Ratliff, Jim Griffith, Don Neikirk and Tim Thirion.
