WURTLAND - Charles Edward Porter, 78, of Wurtland, is now rejoicing in heaven. Mr. Porter passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Porter was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Boyd County, a son of the late Francis Marion and Ida Johnson Porter. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Francis, Virgil, Oscar, Massie and Lewis Porter; and two sisters, Ethel Brown and Sarah Wells.
Mr. Porter was a laborer with Local 1445 in Ashland since the 1960s, and attended Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods.
Mr. Porter is survived by four children, Tim E. Porter and his wife, Rayetta, of Wurtland, Mark Porter of Ashland, Labreeska Adams and her husband, Jesse, of Worthington and Stephen L. Porter and his wife, Jamie, of Walton; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Proctor B. Porter of Summit; two sisters, Janie Brewer and Annabelle Stewart, both of Ashland; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods by the Rev. Eugene Haney. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
