[Obituary Image] Carl E. Griffith, 88, of Ashland, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 in Brookdale Richmond Place in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born September 21, 1930, in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Leo E. and Lola Adkins Griffith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Nellie Lake Griffith in 2016.
Carl was a charter member of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church. He retired after 32 years of service from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an avid Tomcat fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy C. Griffith of Lexington, and Carla S. Bryan and husband, Mitchell of Lexington; brother, Larry G. Griffith of Ashland; and three grandchildren, Monica Sparks and husband, Cody, Andrea Bryan and Emily Bryan.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with words of comfort provided by Todd Nibert. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
