Mrs. Betty James Lewis, age 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Friday morning, October 12, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born October 4, 1935, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Roy and Oral Sizemore James.
Betty was of the Pentecostal faith and was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to church, playing gospel songs on her guitar and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Simon Lewis, and one sister, Shelby Skaggs.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Kelly Pence of Ashland, Kentucky, and Karen Eslinger of Coal Fax, Illinois; three grandchildren, Robbie and Michelle Whicker, Jeremy and Laura Whicker, all of Coal Fax, Illinois, and Michael and Cindy Pence of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; six great grandchildren; one sister, Nina James of Grayson, Kentucky; and a special cousin, Wanda Foster of New Boston, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky, with Sister Anita Wells Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
Michael Pence, Jeremy Whicker, Troy Lewis, Joey Lester, Adam Harlow and Robbie Whicker will serve as pallbearers.
