Arvel Edward Young Jr., 66, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Westwood, a son of Arvel Edward Young Sr. of Rush and the late Lorene Wiley Young.
Mr. Young served in the U.S. Navy Reserve on active duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He was a member of IBEW Local 317 in Huntington for 42 years and worked at the Ashland Oil Refinery in Catlettsburg. His church family was Bridges Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dottie Patrick Young; one daughter, Amy Michele Hamilton (Mark) of Hiwassee, Va.; one son, David Edward Young of Lutz, Fla.; granddaughter, Emily Michele Hamilton of Hiwassee, Va.; three brothers, Norman R. Young of Rush, Joe Young of Glenford, Ohio, and Daryll Young of Independence; and a sister, Charyll Young Grayson of Newark, Del.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Bridges Christian Church with Mark McKinney, Minister officiating. A private burial will follow.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tilton, Jack Blair, Joe Robinson, Larry Jones, Jerry Holbrook, Larry Royster, Gary Garthee and Tony Dyer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kisses of Grace Backpack Program at Bridges Christian Church, 1402 Kenwood Dr., Russell, KY 41169.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steen Funeral Home in Ashland.
