WORTHINGTON - Alfred D. "Al" Ramey, 92, of Worthington, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Ramey was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Raccoon Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Steven Jackson and Clara Dillon Ramey.
He was a retired engineer for the C&O Railroad, a member of First Baptist Church in Worthington and a World War II United States Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Adkins Ramey; two daughters, Dawn Blevins of Lloyd and Belinda (Eddie) Gumbert of Bellefonte; two sons, Darrell (Joyce) Ramey of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Stanley (Anna) Ramey of Raceland; two sisters, Lillian Thomas of Huntington, W.Va., and Juanita Meadows of South Point, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Capt. Anthony Drew Ramey stationed in Iwakuni, Japan (he spent many cherished days with his papaw), Merinda, Rebecca, Jason, Megan, Molly, Ron, and Rhonda; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Worthington by the Rev. Dane Armstrong. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland. Military graveside servies will be conducted by American Legion Post 276 of South Shore.
Friends may call Thursday at the church from noon until time of service.
Evans Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
