Alan Ray Robinson, 55, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 4, 1958, in Ashland, to the late Lloyd and Mary Frances Price Robinson.
Alan was a 36-year employee at American Electric Power and was a long-range planner. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and taught Sunday school at Rose Hill and at the Ashland Group Home. Alan loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He was very much a people person who was selfless and loved helping others. He loved to cook, especially with his granddaughters, and was always present at the ballfield for Katelyn's games.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Brittain Robinson of Ashland; a son, Jeffrey Robinson of Ashland; a daughter, Rebecca Robinson Cannoy and husband Derek of San Diego, Calif.; brothers Donald (Nancy) Robinson of Keensville, Fla., and Thomas (Barbara) Robinson of Ashland; sisters Phyllis Roberts and Melba Kay Gibson, both of Ashland; two granddaughters, Katelyn Ferguson and Skylar Cannoy; in-laws Bill and Barbara Brittain of Owingsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Gary Arrington and Dr. Ronnie Mayes. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
